Water based stains- Coat the concrete surface and produce rich coloring, that offers a wide range of colors, hues, and tunes.  Water based stains are non-reactive, non-acidic, and are low in VOC's.   The water based stains are vibrant and UV stable and can be used indoors or outdoors.

Acid staining is a reactive acid solution producing different shades and tones of the color being applied. Things to be aware of is the age of the concrete, older concrete may not react as well due to age of minerals, and other contaminants that may be in the concrete. Acid staining is more expensive than water based staining due to the neutralizing process and setting up. Acid stain are longer lasting than water based stains, and are available in earthy tones.

Concrete dye- there are no chemical reactions with dyes, but they are many bright colors to choose from. Concrete dyes are used for softer looking floors and for stenciling logos, and graphics unto concrete overlays, polished concrete among other surfaces.
